Andrew Garcia is a journalism major and computer science minor at Hofstra University. A proud native of Long Island, Andrew takes his main interest in the news and critique of video games and entertainment.

Mack Caldwell spends most of his time bashing loosely linked sentences into a google doc. He can’t parallel park. He is currently studying journalism at good ol’ Hofstra University. He has an ambiguous plant in his room named Empanada. His name is also Mack Caldwell.

When Josh designed his first newsletter, it was like fire was ignited in his body. Connecting the concreteness of journalism with the creativity of graphic design, Josh finally found something that fulfilled his desire to work and think outside of the box. He’s been given the tools and opportunities to keep the fire in his heart. As the assistant Art Director for Pulse Magazine, he hopes that you get as much enjoyment reading as he did making it.

Maria Zaldivar

Maria Zaldivar, 20, is majoring in Journalism with a minor in Marketing and Women Studies. She is an E-board member for the Campus Feminist Collective at Hofstra, and is constantly working on her personal blog Chilanga in Emerald City.
Kaeli Van Cott
Copy Editor
Kaeli Van Cott is a senior Journalism major and double minor in Spanish and Radio, Television and Film. During her time at Hofstra, she’s been involved with the Hofstra Chronicle, Zeta Phi Eta and WRHU, especially with the live film show The Screening Room. She’s interned at Indiewire, Viacom Velocity and Bravotv, using her writing skills either as an editorial intern or copywriting intern. After college, she hopes to continue writing and eating pizza as much as possible.

Nandee writes for the Long Island Report, The Hofstra Chronicle and also hosts The Hofstra Morning Wake-Up Call on Tuesdays at Hofstra WRHU. She has interned at CNBC and currently interns at NBC.
Laura Bellini
Art Director
Laura Bellini is a senior Political Science and Journalism major at Hofstra. After graduation, she plans on attending law school. Laura served as president of her sorority, Phi Sigma Sigma, and held an editorial internship at Celebuzz.com. She is excited to be a part of a staff putting together a magazine on such an important issue, and hopes readers will take away lessons about the environment.

Robert is a journalism major who wants to write for the video game industry. He loves video games as a pastime as well as an art form and hopes to work in the industry one way or another. Other than that, He loves going camping, hanging out with friends, listening to all music (except Country, gross.), and watching probably bad shows on Netflix.

Sarah Hysong, 21, is a junior double major in journalism and political science at Hofstra University, and editor for the Spring 2017 issue of Pulse Magazine. She is an avid reader, writer, and dancer, and hopes that this magazine brings more attention to the lesser known issues and consequences pertaining to climate change.
